Final Result:

ok let's start...

Step 1

First  I have this beautiful old paper texture. It's a stock image from sxc.hu Here: http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1249081 After you have it open it in photoshop.

Step 2

The second image I have is this of Taj Mahal, you can find it here: http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1085288 Open it and place it over the old paper image.

Step 3

Using layers panel I'll improve the quality of this work a little bit.

Step 4

Next take the eraser tool and choose the hardness to be 0% The diameter is also importand but it depends on the image size.

Step 5

Begin to delete the edges of the image using the eraser tool. you should have something similar to the next image:

Now desaturate the image. Shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+D

Step 7

Change the layer mode to Linear light and change the opacity to somewhere between 60 - 70

Step 8

Now start to delete with eraser tool again, I'll delete the lighting we have here. Look at the image of how it's should look:

Step 9

Using the layers again, we can remove this light completely and also we can make the image to blend with the photo. You should play with layers here, it depends on the photo you use. You can see my settings for this photo in the next image:
