In this tutorial I will show you how to make a nice looking polaroid photo icon. It's really easy to achieve and the final effect looks really nice. Let's not loose our time and just start the tutorial...

Open a new document. My dimmensions are 800 x 600 polaroid photo tutorial image 1

Select a light grey color.

Take the rectangle tool.

Draw a rectangle shape as this below:

Select this shape layer and drag it to the new layer icon at the bottom of the panel. This will duplicate the layer. We will need this second layer to make the lack part of our polaroid.

Using free transform tool let's resize this. Make it to look like int hte image:

Now let's make some gloss. Duplicate this shape and change it's color to white. Take the 2 anchor points at the bottom and move them up. They sould look like in the next image

Lower the opacity of this layer to somewhere around 15 - 20.

Let's get back to the first layer. We'll made a shadow now. This will make it to look much better. First duplicate our first layer and move it below the original. After that move it a little bit to the right and down with the arrow keys of your keyboard and change the color to much darker gray...

Now we're ready with our polaroid photo. Group the layers of the polaroid photo and then duplicate the group once. This way you will have a second photo. Rotate it a little bit using a free transform tool CTRL+T

Repeat Step 10.

Now go to the custom shapes tool and select the paperclip shape.

Place the paperclip on it's place.

Now take the pen tool and select substract from shape area option.

Here what you should have at this momment. Next duplicate the layer of our paperclip change it's color and move it below the original. This will be the shadow of our paperclip.

The shadow need some adjustment. You can play with the achor points of this shape and place them in right place.

Well here the polaroid photo icon is ready now. I hope you like it.

You can place some image or you can use it for something else. Feel free to experiment :D

It's ready and it's all vector so you can resize it to any size you want. Except tha image offcourse, you should place it at the end when you have choosed the final dimmension.

Hope you like it and feel free to share and comment...
